Oil change interval with extensive Idling?

How early of an oil change interval would you recommend in terms of miles and months if I do a lot of idling?

At one point I was idling for about 1-2 hours every day. Thank you.

3000-5000 miles, but try to take your car to a highway every week for a good one hour driving.

Okay, thanks so much @yaser

@yaser In terms of time period, is it fair to say 3- 6 months? Thanks!

6 months would be fine.

Makes sense, thanks again @yaser

Personally on my car I consider an hour idling as 30 miles.

So if I idle for 50 hours (extreme example) between oil changes, I change my oil 1,500 miles earlier.

But it's best also to check the condition of the oil inside of your engine - if it's bad, replace it before calculated millage.

Can you define “bad” for the OP?

Yep, “Bad oil” is oil that has turned dark from regular wear and tear.

Oil getting to this state means you need to replace it ASAP.

If you should replace the oil due to millage, but it’s not dark yet - replace the oil anyway!
-
From a mechanical perspective (if you don’t use additives and in most cases,) there isn’t such a thing as replacing it “too frequently”, but in a lot of cases, people don’t change their oil frequently enough.

Here’s a link to an image that explains it:

That was very helpful. Thank you so much! @ÐayWalker and @Dan
