Hey Scotty, I’m looking at a 2017 Ford F-150 5.0 with a 6 speed transmission and a 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with the 6.0. What would be the most reliable truck to choose?
What is the price and what are you going to use it for?
I figured if I get something like the 2500 6.0 I would be able to pull a T595 Bobcat skid loader better than the 5.0. But my father also pulls a Skid of the same size with a 2011 F150 5.0 just fine. I’m just not sure with the aluminum frame on the newer F150s on how they’d hold up.
Use is critical here. For true heavy duty use, the 2500 will hold up better, for sure. For light-medium duty use, it's probably a wash (the 6L Duramax is a good engine, but the cost of maintenance, fuel, and repairs more than offsets the benefit).
