I have a 2004 f250 6 liter turbodiesel automatic transmission with 190,000km. The engine runs well but when its going down the road above 40km/hr there is periodically a violent lurch forward as if fuel flow is choked off momentarily and then goes back to regular running mode. ie. smooth power. What do u think is causing this sudden lurching/hesitation?

It is probably something in your fuel system such as your injectors or your fuel pump. But it could also be a very dirty air filter as well.
