Scion Xb 2006, 174k miles, automatic.

just got this car used and want to Put in new spark plugs. Manual says to use Denso or Ngk gapped at 0.32, but didn’t mention What Metal (copper, platinum, etc.). I looked online and can’t find what the factory plugs were made from. What is the best material and brand for this mileage Xb? If Scotty could answer that would be better 👍

Look in the owner’s manual, it should also tell you the part number.

It should be iridium plugs, denso is what toyota uses.

Thanks for the reply! Current plugs are iridium denso gapped at 0.38, car does feel sluggish when pedal is at 1/2 full throttle and there is some vibration when idling. Should i gap these to 0.32 or buy new iridiums pre gapped to 0.32?

Likely it came with platinum plugs.

Agree with the moderator - go with the Iridium.

The iridium spark remains stable for 100,000+ miles.
