Hey Scotty, I am looking to get my first car and have been looking at 90-99 Ford Rangers. Most around my area are around the price of $2,000 and usually have around 200,000 miles. What should I look for in a ranger priced at $2000 and with that many miles.

You aren't looking to get one as a daily driver are you? They are too old to be reliable without a lot of work. 200k miles is also quite a bit and you would have to know what maintenance was done on it, etc.

I would look at something newer for my sole transportation.

Those were decent trucks. If you take care of it it should last you.

They wont last as a Toyota would, but they will still be fine.  Just watch out for Rusting on the body and frame.

just make sure the engine and transmission  is good and have a mechanic check it out

The Ford rangers are decent, not as reliable as a tacoma but they will last a while, especially manual ones. However that mileage is too high, they don't have much life left in it.
