First oil change new Corolla

I'm buying a new 2024  Corolla in two days. I was planning on following the dealership and manufacturer recommended schedule for oil changes and other maintenance. But now I'm seeing videos on the Internet that say you should get your first oil change at 1,000 miles on a brand new car. I'm worried that the dealership service department will laugh at me, and tell me I'm crazy and to go away if I call them and ask for an oil change at only 1,000 miles (if that's not their standard break-in procedure already). What should I do? Thanks

Be sure to change engine oil every 5,000 miles or once a year whichever comes first.  Toyota has said every 10,000 miles but stick to every 5,000 miles instead.  Don’t forget to change the oil filter at each oil change.

.

Also, if the Corolla has the CVT transmission be sure to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles.

unless they give free oil changes, don't go to the dealership. In fact, don't go there for anything unless it's warranty work.

Find a good independent mechanic with a good reputation instead. Or, better yet, do the oil changes yourself. Learn how to fix your own machine. (at least the basics)

as for your question about break-in, watch the video here: https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/postid/287712/

that was from the old days. modern cars you don't need to do that. and no, they won't laugh at you, at least not in your face. they'll take you money, do the oil change, and laugh in the back while they're doing it. any money the dealership can make they will
