What are the best used, reliable fullsize or midsize trucks to buy with a budget of $16,000 or less? I preferably would like a v6 engine and 4x4. I don't do any towing, but I might use the bed once in a while, but not often. It's main use would be daily driving. This would be my first truck.

I would get a yacoma if your not planning on towing and dont need a full sized bed im assuming you live in a snowy place like me and thats why you want 4x4 and if you do live in a snowy place i wouldnt buy a truck without it if you dont and are planning on just road driving you can get a 2wd truck for a better price

Thank you for the helpful advice! Yeah, the biggest reason why I wanted the 4x4 because I live in NJ where there are ocassional heavy snowstorms.

No problem and definatly dont get rear wheel drive they are a pain in the snow if you stop on the slightest upward incline your most likely spinning tire I always drive in 2wd until i need 4wd thats just my personal prefrence. But dont forget just because you have it that dont mean you can go 70 down the highway on icy roads just take your time and leave early most storms you should be going 45 max and have good tires

I'd stay away from 4WD unless you absolutely need it because it will make your car much more expensive to repair. And stick with Ford or Toyota if you can

Hey, thank you for the very helpful info and links! I was looking at 4x4 because of the snowstorms during the winter. Just wondering, would 2wd do ok in the snow?
Oh well then if it snows bad there multiple times a year then I would definitely consider the 4x4 just know it's going to be more maintenance(changing all 4 tires at once every time) and more to repair if it breaks. GL on your truck search!

Why 4x4? I would look for a Tacoma at $16k and have it inspected before purchase.
