I’m looking for a first car for my daughter who is in college and needs reliable transportation. However I can’t afford $20000 for a used car. Need to know good options and how much mileage is ok and what is too much.
For best cars to buy, is there a range of model years to choose from or should I stick to the specific year noted on Scotty’s best car list?
The one she can afford to pay the insurance on.

I am not sure what your price range is but a civic/corolla are usually a good choice.
If any of these are in your price range used, assuming it checks out, these are pretty good bets: Toyota CHR, Honda HRV, Corolla, Civic, Fit.
Let us know the options you have, and we can help narrow it down.
2022 HR-V
lol re: self-immolation
Civic, Corolla, Camry, Accord, RAV4, CRV...depends on her wants and needs.
