Which first car should I buy for my daughter?

I’m looking for a first car for my daughter who is in college and needs reliable transportation. However I can’t afford $20000 for a used car. Need to know good options and how much mileage is ok and what is too much.

For best cars to buy, is there a range of model years to choose from or should I stick to the specific year noted on Scotty’s best car list?

What are the available options in your area, which fall within your budget?

The one she can afford to pay the insurance on.

Check out the used car buying guide in our Frequently Asked Questions.

I am not sure what your price range is but a civic/corolla are usually a good choice.

If any of these are in your price range used, assuming it checks out, these are pretty good bets: Toyota CHR, Honda HRV, Corolla, Civic, Fit.

Let us know the options you have, and we can help narrow it down.

2022 HR-V

Civic, Corolla, Camry, Accord, RAV4, CRV...depends on her wants and needs.

All of the vehicles that the forum members said are correct choices. Let your daughter test-drive each of the vehicles. If she likes the vehicle, you can come back here to rediscuss which vehicle your daughter likes and its price.
