I'm looking to buy a car through a used car lot. it is a 2003 Ford focus station wagon ztw. The asking price is $2,500 it is an automatic transmission and the mileage is about $128,000 miles. Is that a good car to buy or should I stay away from those? Any issues that you know about from those cars during that particular year?

I would not pay that much considering a 2014 Focus with a manual transmission goes for $3500-4000 with less miles.

That year had common ignition, engine, and transmission issues: https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Focus/2003/

Since the minimal price difference I would look for the later models like 09-11 they had decent autos and engines and have less complaints.

Thank you. That's exactly the answer I was looking for and I never knew that website existed until yesterday. I appreciate the resource...
