We would like to sell our one-owner Ford Excursion but don’t know how to find a value for selling it. It is garage kept, non smoker, Eddie Bauer, 2000 model. It has 196,500 miles. 7.3 liter power stroke diesel, and 2 wheel drive. Navy exterior with tan leather interior. No known mechanical problems. We have seen listings for this model up to $40,000 but don’t know if that is reasonable.

Highly unlikely. Of course a seller can ask anything they want to for a vehicle. That doesn't necessarily mean they'll get that much unless they can find a buyer who just wants the thing and doesn't care what it costs.
Although kbb.com doesn't show that Eddie Bauer thing as an option, they peg the value of a 2000 Excursion Limited 2WD with that engine and mileage at about $10,000. I have no idea how much extra the inclusion of "Eddie" would bring to the table.
I included the Eddie Bauer as a description of the body style but the 7.3 Turbo diesel engine is the real selling point and is one of those special engines.
Apparently at least in kbb.com's estimation not special enough to warrant a $40,000 price tag.
