Scotty is a 2005 Ford Expedition with 110k miles in good condition inside and out for $4,000 a good buy?

Definitely have it checked out by a mechanic. You may have some parts that need replacement due to age and degradation. Mostly rubber hoses, belts, etc.
As mentioned above, avoid any from the rust belt.

And those are gas hogs too.

If you do not live in the rust belt. They do rust up north on our salty roads, but otherwise run a long time.
