Is there a Ford Explorer 2015 and newer that you would be ok in purchasing or a year to stay away from.

Stay away from ecoboost or 10 speed transmissions as of now

2018 and 2019 are going to be the best years as the older ones have steering issues and body work doesn't like to hold together on the models before this. I would only get the 3.5L N/A V6 if I was going to get a Ford Explorer, the Ecoboost have a lot of issues.

2013 limited owner here... look out for the internally mounted chain driven water pumps, and the PTU (transfer case) those are common failure points on these which become very expensive... other then that great vehicles

Keep away from the EcoBoost models. The SUV is just too heavy for that little motor to effectively move around and the engines will wear out prematurely.
