Love your channel and greetings from San Antonio, Texas. I have a 2012 Ford F-150 2WD 6 Cylinders Ecoboost 3.5L FI Turbo DOHC 213 CID with 135k miles that has developed a loud shuttering noise that only occurs on startup and only during the winter months when it is cold. Looking online it appears this is a timing chain stretch issue and something about VCT Phasers. Assuming this is the issue, do you think a major repair is needed or can some specific type of oil or oil additive be used? I also saw online someone suggesting to hold down the accelerator on startup to flood the engine to allow the oil pump to gain pressure to lubricate the chain before startup.
For your next oil cage, try some Lucas oil additive and pray it helps.
Thank you. Does it matter which additive to use specifically for cold start up? Full synthetic, high mileage or other?
Full synthetic should work better for your purpose.
