Hi, Scotty

Im looking to change for a car that I can modify and is uncommon in Québec. I was thinking about a Ford Focus SVT (2002-2004)

A guy offer me to buy is car for 6000$ Canadian Body is really clean and little to nothing in modifications as been made on it ! Only got 150 000 km original kilomètres and as been garage keep when winter was coming.

There is only 4-5 Focus SVT for sale in Québec...

What do you think ? I really like it !

Thanks, Mickael S.

Well, … i say, find a good, old mechanic that you can trust, … pay him to have that SVT thoroughly check out, … advise you on its real condition, deficiencies, etc.. Then, … and only then, decide if it’s a good buy for you! And remember, the guy who offers to sell his car has a reason, … a very good reason - to him!

Actually he offer me to buy it but dosn't sell it on an official site as Kijiji Or Facebook Marketplace. He is not officially looking to sell it in if you see what I mean...

Hello fellow Quebec mate,

I think reliability is not too much of a concern since it appears you are a young mechanic. I've never seen this on the streets, so it must be uncommon. Didn't even know it existed lol. You probably know that if a car is uncommon the parts will be hard to find/expensive if any, so all I'll say is: Was the car in the garage during winter or was it driven in the winter but stored in the garage? If it were driven in the winter and stored in the garage, make sure to inspect for rust, especially with a heated garage.

Never been out during winter 😀

Hmmn, … since this car was never winter driven, especially in Québec, that is very big plus, considering Québec winters are, … just perhaps, a hardest kind of winters ones car can suffer.

Now, a question: How old is this guy that is offering it to sell it to you? You just may end up with a very good buy. Dig deeper, as long as condition of the car is not a reason that he is selling it, you will end up a winner!

That is awesome. Great sign. Yeah like he said keep leaning towards this car and learn more about it. Here the rust will eat your car before the engine or transmission even starts to go out.

He 17 or 18 He did made a burnout with the car for sure but want to keep the car too soo not too bad I think... As I Said he didnt put a lot of mod as I saw only beauty things as carbon fiber hood wrap and the top of the car in black ?!... Also tinted Light But dosn't see a lot of picture too...

He got the car around September 2020

Got a new clutch and he is the third owner

Oh, brother! Run! Run! RRRRUN! ( … and I most sincerely, in genuine way, mean it!)

At this point ? It's fixable a clutch and dosn't mean that the car as been warn out that bad... Also remember that the car is privatly sell and that the car is going to be driven during the summer again...
What could be bad in a new set of tire... Because of 2 burnout and riding with is friends... Nan ?

While younger people tend to beat their cars, especially zippy cars, he only had it for around 6 months (and not driven during the winter), it's not like he beated it since 2002. At this point we enter a road of prejudice and assumptions. Get factual evidence of the shape of the car to get a better idea. You have knowledge in mechanic, your judgement will be the most decisive factor.

Look, you said it: … three previous (most likely delinquent) owners, … you will be fourth! Enough said, …

If it checks out mechanically and you like it, go for it. That's not a bad price considering it is Canadian. Just as long as there is no rust.
