I'm looking for a first vehicle for myself, and I have my eye on older S197 model Mustangs from 2005-2009. I'm open to either V6 or V8 option, but leaning towards V6. Would that be a good choice to go with? Any common problems to be aware of? (or perhaps a 7th gen Toyota Celica GT-S instead?)

The Mustangs of that era can be ok cars whether it's a V6 or V8. Have a good mechanic to check it out before buying cuz you'll never know the history of these cars.

Only if it's not driven hard (cornering at high speed) since they're prone to oil starvation that leads to low oil pressure due to design flaw especially that engine but aside from that, it can last a long time as long you drive conservatively and take care of it.
