Should I buy the 2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid?

I'm looking at the new F150 Pickup truck, and my question is, have you heard of any issues with the 3.5 Powerboost Hybrid motor. Also, what is your opinion on the 23 mpg rating of the Hybrid versus the 3.5 Ecoboost? Is that a game-changer for purchasing the Hybrid over the standard motor?

I would not consider any vehicle made by Ford except the 3/4 ton pickup.  Everything else they make is the very definition of poor quality and disappointment, IMO.

Ford already has issues with their regular F-150 trucks:  now with the Powerboost you have the union of an Ecoboost engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission and with a hybrid setup.  If you plan to keep the truck for a long time esp. out of warranty, I would not purchase it, things will inevitably break and good luck finding a competent mechanic to work on it.

The best F-150 trucks were the naturally aspirated V8 from 2013-2017 model year (1st and 2nd Gen Coyote V8) mated to the 6-speed automatic transmission.  They were simpler and easier to work on with fewer issues than the current F-150s.

if you're after fuel economy then don't buy a pickup

I'm not sure if the 3.5 Powerboost Hybrid motor has issues yet. My opinion on the mileage is it is pretty decent for a big truck. I wouldn't say it's a game-changer against the standard motor, but it is against electric trucks.

Like @doc said, I wouldn't advise you to buy it if you planning to get that specific vehicle based on Ford's quality currently.

I’m not advising for or against this  specific truck, just sharing my thoughts on the engine.

The one thing I like about this generation engine is they added port injection alongside direct injection.

The other thing I like is that it is a hybrid. Why? TMK, all their trucks now come with start/stop technology, hybrid or not. I feel more comfortable with a hybrid system doing the starting and stopping than a glorified starter doing the starting and stopping. Granted, I would need to research the differences more deeply, to see if these concerns are warranted.
