Hi Scotty, I need your help.

My Ford Dealer, when I take the car into service, boasts about its "quick lane" service- which is a separate building from the main shop and the dealer tells me "we only do oil changes at quick lane"- most of those guys there look under qualified. Is it just like the Walmart situation? Should I run away and not touch this dealer with a ten-foot pole? Help!

Yes. Not only does that sound like a quick-lube clone (a disaster waiting to happen), in general you should stay away from the dealer for all but warranty repairs. If you're not going to be doing your own maintenance find a good independent mechanic to do it for you, avoid dealers and chain shops.

My car is still under warranty so that's why I use a dealer- once its out of warranty I will try to find an independent mechanic who's good- most of them near me are chain oil change shops
