What do you all think on the new recall Ford has issued out on the Takata Inflators for the airbags?
I'm not at all surprised. They replaced junk with junk and this is what happens.
I’m with you @mod_man Ford as a whole company has just gone to trash. They make junk and they replace it with more junk. Didn’t used to be that way though.
@usafdozerpilot
"Ford as a whole company has just gone to trash. "
With you both on this, but this has been like this for a while. Don't forget about the Ford Pinto memo.
The summary I make of this is: Ford doesn't care about their customers , but thats just my opinion after the Pinto memo, SUV tire scandal, and modmans experiences. They are close to Tesla deceitfulness...
None of these automakers are immune to recalls. Just look at the massive Toyota fuel pump recall that happened not too long ago affecting roughly 5.8 million vehicles. So much complexity on modern cars along with numerous suppliers providing parts (and then they have their own quality control or lack there of as well as pinched to certain price point) - it’s amazing cars even function for as long as they do today. It’s definitely humbling. I look at how the automakers handle the recalls and if they try to do the right thing for their customers.
True. And I never said Ford was the only one affected. Takata supplied garbage to everyone unfortunately.
WOW an American vehicle manufacturer having another massive recall!? No way that never happens.
uh yeah .... for Japanese airbags
and it's about 1/5th of the number of vehicles recalled by Toyota for airbags
So they’re using defective airbags man that’s crazy. Vehicle manufacturers never use defective parts ever. @mountainmanjoe
How long have airbags been around? And they still can’t make them correctly.
Some manufacturers cannot make correctly even simpler things. Even Toyota is not an exemption there. Unfortunately.
Er...
So? This happens every week to an American manufacturer anyways.
This forum in a nutshell:
Millions of Toyota's fuel pumps go out:
Kia's sunroofs explode:
Honda Accord and CRV battery drain from the factory:
Ford recalls airbags made by a different country: "WHAT AMERICAN JUNK. A MASSIVE RECALL!"
Seriously, Toyota, Honda, and GM all use Takatas. Don't hate on Ford.
Ford is hated because of its quality issues.
If you know me, you know I hate Ford. Plenty of people here know my experience with them. And they did replace junk with junk, so I'm not sure why you want to give me a downvote for telling the truth, but ok.
Meh, I feel where you're going, but you gave me a downvote for saying "You can like the Tundra but don't say F-150's are bad trucks" (Not that I write this down or something)
You seem awfully worked up... Just take it easy, brother.
It's just the internet.
Sorry @7.3PunchInA3.4 I am high strung at the moment. Meant no offense. If I downvoted you for that, it must have been an accident. This hasn't been my week so probably posting a little off. {blackemo}:hotdrink:
takata air bag recall is worldwide, here in australia there is a push that if an owner of a vehicle with an affected air bag recall has not had the airbags replaced that said vehicle will have its registration cancelled. this has affected many cars, my previous car was an A33 maxima, wife's car an 07 honda jazz, my current car chrysler grand voyager 08 model all on the recall list, these have all been checked and cleared that the air bags where not the faulty ones. the legislation the federal government are trying to implement has not come into effect as yet.
I noticed the list of affected vehicles in Australia is pretty long
https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recalls/compulsory-takata-airbag-recall/takata-airbag-recalls-list
i think it would be much worse in europe as there are more manufacturer makes and models available
