Fiat punto high consumption

Hello,

I have old fiat punto 1.2liters 65hp petrol engine. I have changed the candles recently and put bosch ones. They were shorter by few millimetres compared to the previous ones that i had (ngk). Now my fuel consumption has increased by approx 3l/100km which means that it was 33mpg and now its around 26.

Are the new candles bad?

Thanks.

That is probably the reason

 A spark plug that is too long can cause extensive damage to your engine while a short spark plug can cause poor gas mileage and spark plug fouling.”

the spark plug are not “bad”, but are just “too short”.

Do you mean spark plugs?

@g-t
I think so. In Italian spark plug is “candele” (=candle if you litterally translate 😊). So he replaced ngk spark plugs with shorter bosch

So you have the same word for candle and spark plug?

You might have to ask the bishop that.

when working on automobiles, it is usually a good idea to match the new & old parts for size & shape to prevent issues such as this. Is the part number the same as the ‘candles’ which were in the car previously?
