Just bought a 2014 gmc sierra 1500 5.3l with 139,000 miles and I noticed I'm at least a quart high on oil and has a strong smell of fuel. Takes a few extra seconds start after sitting for a while especially when it's cold. What could the problem be?
usually it's blow-by from failed piston rings. You can check by doing a cylinder compression test.
Have you changed the PCV valve lately?
No I just bought it about a month ago. I will look into that and have a compression test done. Until I can get someone to look at it I've just been changing the oil frequently
That inexpensive little PCV valve is probably the most under appreciated and overlooked maintenance item ever put on a ICE. Dollars to donuts says that MountainManJoe has the answer here. Make sure your compression test is dry and wet.
