Fuel Part discontinued: used, salvage yard, fabricate, give it up?

Hi Scotty,

AT GARAGE FOR A WEEK HALF NOW

2005 Chrysler (didn’t know better) Town Country LX 3.3 mini  147,000 miles van.

Put gas into almost empty tank, drove 150 yards to grocery shop for 1 hr, started car, drove 20 yards then gurgle gurgle graruph. Dead.

Gas on ground. Reputable garage says hose had popped off. Attached it, started, popped off again.

Need Mopar 04809304AH:  JUMPER. FUEL SUPPLY -TUBE FUEL SUPPLY but discontinued. They could not find at salvage yards..

They supposedly tried fabrication but were sketchy about whether it had worked and/or liability question (they said both) Maybe they tried Dorman products but I know they don’t fit my 2005. I got a used one on Ebay I had guy detach from gas line and is shipping ….

These guys put in my radiator, starter and water pump but when asked about a clog somewhere(again almost empty tank, did not leak but popped off) they didn’t really say they tested for anything else, or tested pressure, and didn’t know there was an O ring inside. Not a big ticket job.

-I know it’s gas and dangerous-I know once these quick connect are off don’t like to be reattached but would like to get it to stay on for 3 months or less while I shop for another.

QUESTION:

-Should I tow to somebody else if this part doesn’t work?

-Order another on Ebay that is attached to the rail, I saw guys use ZIP TIES(stupid) on youtube -Could I just double clamp it, xtra high pressure hose, watch it and no highway driving?

-would think SOMETHING would work. God Dorman even sells the clips.. just not my car. Are these guy too young timid liability skidish?

  • Just give it up and take Uber to look for another car?
  • Anything and I mean ANY thoughts would be a gift!

You are fantastic and a god send to us all!

Thank You

JEGS lists it on their web site:

https://www.jegs.com/i/Mopar-Accessories/293/04809304AH/10002/-1

Whether they actually have it is another matter.

@chucktobias I saw that but date to ship is days out, that date keeps changing towards the future, and apparently is is their MO when they don’t really have the item and no idea if it would ever be in stock.
But thanks so much for trying to help.
