- I have a 2005 Infiniti g35 coupe with a 6 speed manual transmission. When I go into gears to quick the transmission is rough when engaging into gear. Also when I put the car in first from a stand still the whole car kind of shakes. I do want to get a new trans as soon as I can afford one. How long can I go with the current trans and am I damaging anything?

Definitely replace the clutch with a clutch kit as suggested. You MAY not need a transmission just yet.

Are you still on the factory clutch?
I believe so. I recently purchased the vehicle and it has 100,000 miles and previous owner who was the second owner of the vehicle said he did not know how old the clutch was.
Probably time for a new clutch. Replace everything that’s included in the clutch kit and fingers crossed, all your problems go away. I’d change the clutch first, before changing the transmission, since you can still engage all gears and none of the gears are popping out while driving.
