95 Astro van, smells of gas when starting it cold. No codes,gas leak, it runs fine & starts first time every time. 150,000 mi's. Why no codes?

Have you checked for an exhaust leak?

The OBD system can't detect small gas leaks. The o-rings on the fuel lines going to the engine could be worn out. Or fuel injector seals.
