Hey I'm in the market for a pick-up truck but I'm not sure if I should buy gasoline or diesel. I'm looking for something that I can drive to and from work while also on my off days hauling project cars. I drive an hour to and from work but I drive semi trucks for a living so I park my personal vehicle from 4 to 6 days out of the week then go home. Brand doesn't really matter the only thing is it has to be a crew cab as I have a family. Thank you in advance.
Dodge Ram with a Cummins diesel.
Welcome new member. If you plan to tow over 10,000 pounds, then I’m with @kp to look at the Ram 2500 with the Cummins.
If less than that, you’ll be better off with a half ton. I just did that exercise myself a year ago. The best gas truck is the Tundra, although the new turbo V6 is not making a lot of friends. The best diesel half ton is the Chevy/GMC with the 3L Duramax. I bought a Sierra with the 3L diesel a year ago and couldn’t be happier, and I get 25-30 mpg on the highway when I’m not towing.
But if you don’t need new, the best truck for your needs is the 2014-21 Tundra with the V8 (5.7L, I think) ... other than gas mileage it’s pretty near a perfect truck.
