Hey Scotty, my names Scott. I just bought a mini cooper s 2009 manuel with 100k miles, was having engine misfires and mechanic replaced the spark plugs and coils. Misfires stoped. But recently i didnt hear the turbo blow off noise and the engine light comes up in a "limp home mode" car is seriously slower and feels like its struggles on the highway, researching more and seeing of of your videos, I tried lucas GDI intake cleaner and sprayed in a can in spurts in the vacum line with the car running 2-3k rpm, followed the instructions and I noticed no smoke coming out during the cleaning and driving it after the cleaning. Noticed the performance didnt change at all? Still have the check engine yellow half light in a safe mode as before? So im guessing it didnt clean any carbon off? Im guessing it most likely just pooled up in the broken turbo ans didnt make it into the engine? Thought id ask before i spend 1000s at the dealership to what the heck is going on with the car. Thanks
It sounds like you have way more problems with that car than carbon buildup. Scanning for codes and checking live data would be a good place to start.
Don't waste your time at a dealership. They'll just rip you off. Take it to any large chain auto parts store and have them scan it for codes and start with that info; report back so we can help with solutions.
