Hey Scotty is the colorado/canyoon trucks good trucks? I recently saw your video about the 5 cyl engine colorado's and I was wondering if the other gm trucks were any good?
Which generation are you asking about?
Idk I was wondering abt one of the newer ones
For this second generation Colorado/Canyon, I would avoid the 3.6 L V6 as it is mated to the GM designed 8-speed AT (8L45). That transmission is bad enough that that is reason alone not to get the V6 engine since the two are paired together. There had been class action lawsuits against that 8-speed transmission:
Also, that V6 engine (LGZ) features cylinder deactivation (what GM calls Active Fuel Management or AFM) which puts further stress on the transmission when it activates. For the powertrain, I would recommend going with the 2.5L Duramax Diesel which is mated to a GM designed 6-sped AT (6L50) which is better than the 8-speed. But, keep in mind the rest of the vehicle with GM electronics (which is not their strong suit) can potentially give issues as it ages and racks up the miles well beyond 100,000 miles. If you plan to get rid of the truck before then, it might be OK (but again go with the Diesel).
Most new GM pickups are junk. Lots of problems, lots of quality control issues, lots of recalls over tiny little things, and lots of lawsuits. The 2500 Heavy Duty variants are somewhat better though.
If you want to talk specifics as said above; Diesel+6speed>Gasoline+8speed
As for, "I was wondering if the other gm trucks were any good?"
The 1500 trucks are dismal in quality, and I'm sure the Colorado is too if I'm honest. All the electronics and small things here and there will break over time.
The older Colorado's were decent little trucks.
GM's new stuff though has not been impressive at all. Unless you go HD, I would avoid them.
