Hey there scotty, I own a 2013 gmc terrain slt with 119,000 miles. My car sometimes turn on when it turn my ignition. At first i thought it was the battery that was indeed old and worn, so I replaced it, the car ran perfectly fine for a couple days until the problem arises again. What you think could be the problem? Help

Plus I suspect that it has an electrical problem because at times the headlights turn on by themselves, locks activated by themselves

Hey guys for those who were following up on the issue with my gmc terrain, i thank you for all your advices and i found the solution to the problem, part of the issue was indeed the faulty battery but it was also my old key fob not sending signal to the car as I turned the key, so i had to get a replacement

In addition, i had to figure that one on my own, so i did what Scotty said in his videos, “Lets put on our thinking caps”

it has power yes,

it could be the battery probably,

hmmm why ignition didnt came on even though i turned it all the way, it make sense, the key fob could be the culprit since it sends a signal to the car that says hey “I’m the key for this vehicle, so let me pass so i can do my work”

P.S: always check your key fob guys, i f its worn out badly then I suggest replacing immediately before your car has problems starting like mine did

You need to get your alternator tested when you change a battery.

You mean your car sometimes does not start. Is that right?

Yes thats right

The alternator is probably the issue. Go to an Autozone and ask them to load test the battery and alternator.

For the electrical gremlins, find a mechanic who has a dealer level scan tool to check the BCM because they are notorious for going out on GM vehicles.

are they? I've owned GM all my life and never had one go out.

A mate of mine used to own a 2013 Chevy Cruze and that thing had to have its BCM replaced I don’t know how many times within warranty, out of warranty.. Funnily, I’ve had GM products previously, for 8 years and never had any trouble either.
