Hello!
I have a golf 2 GTI 16V 139 hp.
I have the following problem which cannot be reduced ...
There is compression there is a spark there is fuel and the air does not want to ignite.
Sounds impossible but we really can't figure out what's going on ....
We thought there might be a problem in the computer about what we were isolating.
We run cables from the switch to the HOL sensor, which was ordered directly for this ... and accordingly we supply plus and minus for the coil directly from the battery.
The starter rotates the engine sucks in air but does not start ...
We tried to stop the flow of fuel and ignite it only with a spray, but again nothing happened.
The interesting thing is that there is compression, there is a spark, there is fuel and it does not ignite ... the flow meter is not connected but it does not matter because we have isolated the computer ... and we no longer know what it is and how to fix it ..
Does it have the Bosch KE Jetronic injection system? Check all the rubber hoses under/around the fuel distributor unit for leaks or if some of them are missing. If the fuel system is simular to Jetronics used on Mercedes 4 cylinder engines from that era, these rubber hoses can cause problems when they get old.
