Got Ripped off by 2 different tire shops

Hey Scotty I just want to tell you about the time earlier this summer I got ripped off by two different tire shops over the same week. It all started when I was driving and I ran over a wooden board that fell out of a truck that had a nail in it and I punctured my tire. I made it back no problem whatsoever and I went to a local full maintenance shop called Mr Lube (this is up in Canada) and they said they just sealed the tire and that I was good too go. That was a bunch of BS. I don’t even think they did anything to the tire besides filling it up with air. They charged me $90 for what they called fixing my tire. Then I went on a road trip and had a flat tire again. This time I went to a proper tire shop and they said the did the same thing, but this time they actually did. I made it home from the road trip fine and it lasted around 2 weeks and then it went flat again. This time I went to another tire shop and they were honest and told me the tires were extremely unsafe and the other shops ripped us off. So they sold us a brand new pair of front tires for $200 which was good. However, they were continental tires and have lost a bit of air from weak seals over the last month or so. Anyways, just thought I’d share that story with you so you can see how much I got scammed.

To work at Mr. Lube, you have to watch a 2 hr powerpoint slideshow, shadow one of the other "techs" a bit, and then you start working on customer's cars. The basic wage is rocky bottom, and they earn extra commission money buy selling you snake oil, and services you don't need. You're lucky if you make it out of there without them breaking or screwing something up! Stay away!

for patching holes in tires, I like going to OK Tire . or Kal tire if I can't find one

Ok tire was the proper tire shop that also ripped me off, KalTire was the only honest one and I praise them for that!

it sounds to me like kaltire slagged off ok tire, and then sold you new tires. So who really ripped you off?

Down here, Tire America fixes them with an internal patch for $15

Yeah I was about to say that $90 to fix a tire is crazy, that is nearly the price of a new one, possibly more. Where I am in Georgia, it is normally $20 to repair a tire properly.

Which ones were Continentals?

My experience from the same tire shop with nails in tires:

A worker fixed a punctured tire on Swift few years ago perfectly, no complaints.

Another worker destroyed a tire on Auris this year while he was trying to fix it. 😠

Maybe you have cracks in your wheels.
