2012 Toyota Corolla LE 1.8L

Hey y’all, my grille insert for my grill broke off when I was on the highway and I was wondering if I can still drive it on the highway without the grill insert. My bumper is fine, I just lost my grille insert. Thank you all for your time.

I’m ordering an OEM grill this minute so I can install it once I’m back from my trip.

Why not buy some screen from a hardware store, cut it size and zip tie it on until your grill comes in. Screen for air flow and it will protect from debris.

I wouldn't. The grill protects the delicate radiator from road debris.

Just to be specific, only the bottom grille insert is gone. The top grille is still there.

debris come from below. The road. Just patch it with some cardboard and cable ties until you replace it.

2012 Toyota Corolla LE 1.8L,

hey all. I asked a question earlier but I wasn’t very specific so I came to ask again. My lower grill broke away and I’m only left with my front grill. Can I still safely drive it or should I wait for the replacement to come in?

Can I still safely drive it

if the radiator bursts you could overheat the car. Doesn't mean you can't patch it and still go.

IS there a way to add photos? I can show you my situation a bit better. UPDATE: Never mind lol

Here is the link for the photo, let me know if it doesn't work. https://drive.google.com/file/d/10xr-DTPSK4uFEZkcU7L0op11lxmDoTxb/view?usp=sharing

With that plate it is best to stay at home, to avoid a meet-and-greet with law enforcement.

(as I do not see anything relevant behind the opening, driving it 'as is' can only harm open space)

@freshoiled2 if you don't mind, please use the "Your Answer" box down below, instead of dangling it off mine. Keyword there is "your". Thanks.

Very interesting, thank you! I’m ordering an OEM grill this minute so I can install it once I’m back from my trip. I’ll try to be careful with bumps and what not.

I do not see anything relevant behind the opening

that's because the photo was taken from above.

Rocks, tire shreds, rusted off pieces of exhaust, wildlife and other highway debris bounces up from below.
