OK first i thought it was the control arm bushing, but now i do not believe it was.
THE STORY:
the ball joints were bad, so we had both control arms entirely replaced. Out mechanic replaced both, HOWEVER the drivers side was stubborn and he had to CUT the bolt off....
IM GUESSING he used a DIFFERENT bolt to re-affix the new arm, i suspect the proper bolt has a thick collar on it and the bolt HE used has the same diameter throughout.
I am not certain I can only visually try to understand whats happening here.
I know this has got to be BAD in the long run so....im wondering my options.
I wonder if i can safely jack the car up, remove bolt, and then thread in a new bolt (the right bolt) (but how would i know what bolt i need LOL). OR, will an unexpected suprise happen once the bolt is removed LOL.
Anyone know a good safe fix my bad back can handle.
No, i cannot bring it back to the mechanic, it was sitting for a couple years after this job took place and i have no proof of anything or warranty of any type.
There's a few possibilities. Wrong bolt as you say, or a missing sleeve, incorrect bushing, wallered out hole etc.
Maybe it's just not tightened down enough.
You said there's no play in the other side. The most reliable diagnosis would be to disassemble both and compare to find the source of play.
a parts store should be able to get you an parts you need. Provide your VIN to make sure it's the correct ones.
Thanks , Ill be looking into this. I think it is wallerd out as you say. I keep messing with it lol
