2008 Honda Element SC (2-wheel drive) Automatic, 136,000 miles, single owner.
My car was hit/sideswiped by another vehicle while parked on the street in front of my house. The contact occurred on the front left portion of my vehicle, forward of Driver side door, right above the wheel well.
After the fact, the car makes a sort of clunking noise, almost sounds like something is loose, or metal is clunking against metal, ONLY when I turn over bumps at slow speeds (like, idle power or a little more, 10-15 mph max).
Does not make any noise at all when turning at slow speeds over a flat portion of road, or going straight over bumps, at any speed. Steering feels fine/normal. Prior to being hit, the car has never made any noises or had any suspension issues.
I just replaced the outer tie rod ends, as I thought that may be the cause, (boot got ripped and had grease leaking out after incident), but the noise is still there, unchanged. I have attempted to rock the tire at 12/6 o'clock and 3/9 o'clock, like in Scotty videos, but nothing seems/feels loose.
At this point, I am thinking either ball joints or wheel bearings. Anyone have previous experience with this? Or any suggestions on what to try next? Thank you very much for your time and expertise!
are you sure it isn't just the sheet metal popping?
