Scotty, thanks for all your great advice! Occasionally I have to rent a car. I was thinking of renting from a private owner, Turo is in my area and is much cheeper than car rental. Have you ever used a private owner car rental. What do you think?

Would you know what the insurance situation is when you rent a Turo car - that would be a concern to me. Right now, there is apparently a real shortage of rental cars, and this would be a good alternative.

When you book your rental with Turo, you can either purchase their "protection plan" OR you can use your own personal auto insurance if you already have coverage. They claim you can use their "protection plan" along with your own insurance as a supplement in case an accident does happen. I generally use my own insurance anyways.
Anybody tried one of the motorcycle rental services, like Twisted Road or Rider;s Share? Supposedly Truro-like.
At the Turo site they say their insurance partner is Liberty Mutual.
