If it works but it's just finicky, pull out the fuse. Get a piece of fine grit sandpaper and clean the power outlet side walls (ground points) and the bottom center terminal (power terminal) and then vacuum out the debris.
It's probably not working consistently because of corrosion/crud that has built up over the years inside there.
