2009 Toyota Avalon xls, 176,000 miles, V6, auto transmission.
No heat until temperature control is increased (from wanted temp of 72) to 78. Cold car was driven about 10 minutes before I had to do this. Outside temperature was 50 degrees. Afterwards the heat setting can be lowered back to 72. This happens often in winter. The engine temperature gauge shows normal. Radiator coolant is full and clean.

Those automatic temperature controls never work well if you ask me. Just control it manually.

Have you ever replaced the thermostat in 176,000 miles?
