Hey Scotty, I have a 2008 Acura TSX 6 speed manual. It drives fine but last night I wanted to back the car up and I had my foot on the brake but not the clutch. I moved the shift knob to the right and pushed it down a bit without much force and for less than a second it made a grinding noise. I quickly let go realizing my mistake and it went away as soon as I let go of the shifter. I backed it up and moved forward and back and everything seems fine like before. My question is, did I damage the transmission or anything else? Thanks

Yes that does damage the transmission. But, it's not going to suddenly fall apart now, if that's what you're wondering. They are built to take some wear and tear. But obviously you should avoid "grinding the gears" because it will wear out the syncros sooner, and lead to poor shifting.

Do not worry about it.

One time thing does not do damage that's why I say do not worry about it. Some people think I say you can do it over and over again without damage، which is not true for sure.
