i got 2014 nissan altima and the brake lights work with the engine off and when i start the car no brake lights all other lights work...please help
That's strange. With the car running in park, try wiggling the brake pedal and even lifting it up. Just to see if it the switch is goofy.
Also, make sure the parking/emergency brake isn't on. Wiggle that around too.
tried that even changed the switch and all bulbs but it has power to the switch hot and cold
new news {black}:idontknow: the switch they bought came from AZ{wow} locked up the brakes..... {black}:amazed:
Brake light switch always has 12 volts to it.
Problem is probably in its wiring harness. Brake has to be applied to start engine. Nissan had a fix published for 2010...might also apply to your problem.
Nissan TSB 10-139 which involves a crank/no start issue... a upgraded stop light switch and wiring harness with a relay built into it. Worth looking into.
thanks i will most def look that up
hi scotty
i was wondering if a faulty ignition button could be shorting out the brake lights.
The ignition switch would have nothing to do with stop lamp operation. I would definitely recommend you use an oe switch aftermarket electronics never work correctly and that car very well could apply to the updated switch as well as sub harness installation
Sorry I messed the year a 2014 does not apply to the bulletin for the sub harness. I would do the factory switch and check all the fuses it may be a ipdm or bcm issue
Yes If they applied but it was only earlier model Altima’s like 07-09 I think
no problem all the help is appreciated......i cant find the ground
does anyone know where to find the ground for the brakelights
There is 2 grounds I believe in that body harness behind the seat back of the back seat on the passenger side. Remove the seat bottom and there is one bolt that you can remove and the bolster will come off. Aside from the grounds I would check the relay that is also a strong possibility
