It's a T-GDi engine, they're not known for being overly reliable.

Naturally, being a small 1.6L pulling rather large car - it's gonna need frequent replacements.

Look, modern owner manuals have a trick -

The define two schedules one called "normal maintenance" and another schedule called "under severe usage conditions"

If you read through the "severe" conditions, you realize that they define what most people call "normal usage".

These state you'll need to service the engine every 5,000 miles and transmission every 56,000 miles.

The ""SEVERE"" driving conditions are stuff like "Frequently driving in stop-and-go conditions", "Driving on uphill, downhill (...) repeatedly", "Frequently driving under high speed", and other stuff that ain't that "severe"

At most, the longest service interval they recommend is 8,000 miles - and that is too much for T-GDi

Familiarize your self with the manual and service requirements - performing it and having proof is strictly required to keep the warranty! and with the T-GDi, you're gonna wanna make sure you comply.
