Hey scotty do you think its a good idea to buy a 1981 toyota celica gt convertible 2 door manual transmission with 189,000 miles they want 1200$ for it and i was thinking of fixing it up it says it was custom made in Beverly hills California

What needs to be fixed?  Not the fastest car but it's rear wheel drive.  Reliable 4 cylinder engine, simple manual transmission and probably rust free.  Not sure if parts availability can be a problem since it's a convertible.

Any particular reason to buy the car?

Don't buy a 40 year-old car unless you have mechanical skills, tools, and a place to work on/store the car. 40 year old cars, even Toyotas in perfect condition need attention and fiddling -no big deal if you're Scotty. Not so good if you have to work on it in an apartment parking lot.
