- Hey Scotty, i am thinking to buy 2021 honda accord 1.5 L . Should i still worry about Honda's oil dilution problem ? Or i should go for 2.0 L turbocharged or 2.0 L hybrid without turbo
Well so far they don't have oil dilution problems and those 2 l engines are pretty good
I have a 2020 Accord 2.0T Sport and have seen minor oil dilution over the first 12k miles. I've been changing out my oil every 5k religiously and using the new synthetic GF-6 oil. It has not been as bad as some of the stories I've heard about the 1.5T, but still it is there.
I think the best way to handle it is to do 5k mile oil changes and not stretch it any further. I think the guys trying to go 10k between changes are going to be the ones having issues with this over time.
I do love the car though. Absolutely zero issues in the first 12k. No rattles and plenty quick for what I need out of a daily commuter. Yesterday I drove 120 miles and averaged 34.2 MPG at 75mph. (Texas freeways have 75mph speed limits in some places, so I wasn't driving like a maniac.)
Why weren’t you?!
+1
I'd expect a honda accord driver to wear a backward baseball cap, wear 200$ sunglasses and hit that vtec all the way through left lane.
@InThrustWeTrust @JustASneakyDude You guys are hilarious. Sad thing is, that IS how most Honda guys drive. {black}
Accord drivers are just older more mature civic kids.
And I'm a civic kid so I know what I'm talking about.
No problems in the first 12K mile? I certainly hope so. It won't start to fall apart until after 50K miles. You'll need to start buying lottery tickets now!
Out of those options, the 2.0T would be a better choice than the 1.5 and 2.0 hybird engines.
