Hey Scotty, I have a 2019 4runner TRD Offroad with 20,000 miles, I want it to last as long as my 96 4runner which I just got rid of, but I'm worried about all the electronics, any preventive measures?
Well they can run forever and they are simpler than the 2020 models and up since the 4runners after 2019 gained their Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance and larger displays with Apple Carplay making them the most complex 4runners to this date, but they are still one of the more bare-bones SUVs to this date, so I wouldn't worry too much.
As the saying goes, you could do a lot worst, but honestly the 4runner is the best SUV in its class for longevity, reliability. While I can’t look into a crystal ball and guarantee yours specifically will last 300,000 miles with no (or even minimal) issues - statistically, it stands the best chance compared to its competition. For preventative maintenance, generally follow your owners manual, but I’d go more aggressive on engine oil (every 5,000 miles) and transmission fluid (drain and fill every 40,000 miles). Also, don’t neglect differential fluid changes.
