Toyota and Ford, for normal truck.

For heavy duty, consider Ford and GM.

Do not even think about Dodge in either case.

Depends all on what you want to do with it. You working the crap out of it? Is it towing all the time? Pavement princess? Gas? Diesel? We need more information for a better answer. But I’ll answer based off your question.

gas

Early 2000s  Chevy or GMC 1500

13-16 Ford F-150 5.0 V8 6 speed tanny.

F250 6.2 V8 6 speed transmission.

18 or newer F150 2.7 ecoboost if you want a pavement princess.

Bypass GM completely on newer models.

Ram 2500 6.4 HEMI w/ 8 speed trans ONLY in the tradesman trim level.

diesel

newer 6.7 Cummins W/ Asin trans

newer Ford 6.7 Powerstroke 10 speed trans

again, bypass GM completely UNLESS you find a 6.6 duramax LBZ W/ Allison trans

12 valve Cummins w/ manual trans

Ford 7.3 Powerstroke w/ manual trans or a well taken care of automatic.

@the_donald you want gas or diesel ?

gas

I’d look at getting an early 2000s GM or Chev. Or even a early or mid 90s Ford. I had a 92 F250 w/ the 351 Windsor and it was a great truck. Would be a good errand or Home Depot run type of truck. But you wouldn’t go wrong with a good used early 2000s GM/ Chev either. Check whatever you look at out really good. The older Fords, if you find one, make sure the duel fuel tank system works properly. That’s the big problem with those trucks.  @the_donald

okay
