I'm looking at buying a 2003 ford escape limited V6 it has 213k miles runs well, ac still works,and shifts like a dream the guy wants $2500 for it, i crawled underneath it theres a lot of rust but the frame still sounds solid.

Get yourself an older Civic or Corolla.

The word "cheap" and "reliable" do not go together. Especially with Fords.

At 213,000 miles it is past its useful life. Pass on it, not a good choice for a daily driver.

That's not going to be a reliable car especially for a 1st vehicle.
