I watched the video on cleaning the Mass AirFlow Sensor. Checking the maintenance records mine had never been done. So I bought the cleaner and cleaned it. But the sensor looks different inside. The wire that goes across the middle of the pipe has a short section that looks like a tiny section of a metal brush shaped like a pipe cleaner. I gave it a good dose of the cleaner then waited two hours and did it again. Even after the second clean that fuzzy section is still there. Is that normal???? If it needs replacing is the Hitachi unit at O'Reilly's for $260 a good choice? The car does NOT show the Check Engine light.
Car is a 1993 Subaru Impreza LS Front Wheel Drive with 141,000 miles - second owner.
MPG is around 20 because I do shorter trips almost all below 40 mph. When did hiway driving it was 25+
Whatever MAF sensor you buy, make sure it comes with a limited lifetime warranty in case of problems. AutoZone, O'Reilly, NAPA, etc.
