Did you use the OEM MAF sensor? If so, check the sensor connection as well.

Also check the throttle valve connector and wiring. That the MAF delivers readings which the ECU does not like, can be either the MAF´s own fault, or the throttle valve position sensor´s fault. Since when the ECU determines what MAF readings to expect, it (above other things) considers the throttle valve position.
/This is an IMHO based on my own experience, which may or may not be applicable to your car/

Make sure the connections between the air filter box and the throttle body are air tight and there are no leaks.

Either your sucking water up or your filter is oiled . Oiled filters are known for destroying MAf . My Nissan spec v burned out 3 maf in  10 days because my NiSMO Cai had a oiled filter. Replaced with dry fiber never had a issue again.

It has a cold air intake on it . I checked it this morning after working last night and it cranked up and idled fine until I touched the gas pedal and it immediately choked down and died .

I posted earlier that you might be sucking up water or your filter is oiled. Oiled filter can and do causing maf to burn out . Cold airs can cause alot of issues especially in cars with mult function maf. Maf, intake temp, map all in one as an example. If you want to keep the Cai make sure it's fully sealed and has dry fiber cone. Also if it's getting wet you will need a bypass valve or you'll need to relocate if possible. If not you'll need to turn into short ram. Faulty maf will do that, they run fine in idle then stall or blow lots of black smoke when giving gas. I've seen it happen mostly in Nissans from 2000 to 2010 but have seen in alot of other It still is possible you have a wiring issue as well but. I still think your cold air is the cause. @doc is right they can cause many problems in modern cars. I agree 100%

Cold air intakes look great but can cause sever problems on sophisticated, electronically controlled engines like yours.
