erratic idle

2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT

I recently got this car from a guy who gave me a great deal because he was in a rush to leave town. It runs/idles well until the accelerator is pushed down. After the petal is released the revs will go up and down trying to find the normal idle rpm. It almost stalls when doing this, but hasn't yet.  I have cleaned the IAC valve, the MAF sensor, and replaced the air filter and spark plugs. Normally when I unplug the MAF sensor and the car goes back to the original tables, the car idles and revs just fine. When I plug it in again it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, it depends on the day 🤣. A code got spit out that its sensor circuit has low frequency (P0102). I'm wondering if this is my MAF or something else that may be causing this issue. Thanks!

Check your MAF sensor output in live data.

I'd probably leave town after pushing a 20-year-old Pontiac on someone. 😉

It could well be the MAF sensor, but there are other potential causes as well that should be investigated.

what did you clean the MAF sensor with?

Put your tool into grams per second units and lets see the live data again.

Make sure you check for and eliminate any vacuum leaks.

I have this 2004 Pontiac Grand AM GT with 150000 miles that idles erratically (up and down) but it never dies. I put a new MAf sensor from Delphi in there because I thought that was what was wrong with it, but i guess not ☹️. What I did to test before was unplug the MAF sensor, which made it run better with the car's original performance tables. I have put a new air filter in, cleaned the IAC valve (although I couldn't really get under the springs), replaced spark plugs, and before I replaced the MAF sensor I had a code that the MAF sensor circuit has low frequency (P0102). I have a couple videos linked of what is happening (the squeaking is from the power steering pulley. I think it might be the battery (charged it 100% day before) but i checked voltage on it and the alternator (which I haven't had issues with dying). and they both read around 14.4. What should I do next? https://youtube.com/shorts/3f-7-L46Ofg?feature=share   https://youtube.com/shorts/HfqvFm7hmxc?feature=share

I did more work and realized the car only does this when the engine is warm. anything before that when the rpm is already higher for warming up, the car revs normally. I have been thinking about just ordering a new IAC valve because I couldn't really clean up in the springs when i originally cleaned it. Is this a good idea or would it be something else?
