Hey Scotty, what do you think about a used 2013 Ford Fiesta/Focus? They’re both $5k, and have 100k miles. Both automatic transmissions. Private party.
This would be my first car, not driving too much, just to my job and friends house. I would still ride the bus to school, I’m 16.
Only if it has a manual transmission. (Run away screaming from any example equipped with Ford's lousy dual-clutch "Powershift" automatic.) Even with manual transmission don't pay too much and have it checked out by a mechanic before buying.

Thank you
Yeah, those automatic transmissions are terrible and it has to be underscored that they are ALL bad and the problems with them CANNOT be fixed. We're not talking that maybe you'd have trouble with one of those, every one of those "Powershift" cars is a lemon. They are a bad, defective design from the get-go. The engineers and management knew it when it was released, there is no solution for it, and the people who bought cars with those transmissions are just screwed. They can be an OK cheap car with manual transmission but don't expect it to last decades the way a Toyota or Honda will.
Avoid! The automatic transmissions in those are ticking time bombs, and all in all they are cheap cars. I would recommend a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic for a first car.
Thanks
You didn’t mention if it had an ecoboost turbo or not. Manual transmissions make these ok cars. If it has a Automatic or a Turbo don’t buy it. Turbo’s on those ecoboost engines are horrible, break alot, and cause oil dilution.
