Asking price if 2017 Chevy SS with 5000 miles in 2021 is above 45K is this overpriced ? Or expected and worth it if the car is in stock condition?

thanks,

Ninux.

Manual or automatic transmission? The manuals are highly sought after.

The SS is not collectible. It is only commanding that price because there is no real competition for a big V8 sedan. GM killed it because nobody was paying the ridiculous price they were asking. Now you have guys trying to get their money back out of them.

The market is the market, but from my time driving them I found them bland and boring. The CTS-V was a much more exciting sedan.

The market is the market.

It seems these are rare and desirable? Hence the price.

How reliable is the automatic transmission of chevy SS ?
I like the sedan but too many questions pop up

Also not sure , if it makes sense to pay MSRP on 3 to 4 year used vehicle but tough to look the other way , I am stuck , please help. I was also looking at Lexus GSF but it’s quite expensive

I am just back and forth on Chevy SS , I kinda like the low key of SS but 45+ drives me nuts.

Supply and demand

No way would you get $45k out of my pocket for it

Discontinued car vs discontinued car?
Lexus GS-F vs Chevrolet SS?
Sporty Luxury car that is reliable vs. an overpriced junky GM 'sporty' car?

My vote is for the Lexus all day long.

Forget about reliability. Lexus wins no questions asked there. Think depreciation. These people are asking half a hundred grand for the msrp of a new one, but 4 years old. The sellers are looking for a sucker to relieve them of their horrible purchase, they are getting screwed over by GM and you do not want to be screwed over by them, and this time more significantly. Over time, these cars will become worthless because they are just junky cars, nothing special. Mod Man knows what he is talking about,
"GM killed it because nobody was paying the ridiculous price they were asking. Now you have guys trying to get their money back out of them. The market is the market, but from my time driving them I found them bland and boring."
On the other hand, I think you should test drive the GS-F and the SS. If you like how the Lexus drives, do your self a favor and get it.

Its your money man, and I wish you the best of luck, but the smart decision is obvious IMHO, it just comes down to whether the "cool" factor of the SS (which I think is nonexistent but thats me personally) outweights the retchid quality of the SS, and whether paying 50 grand is worth it when you could get a good used GS-F with a 400+ horsepower V8 .

Thanks @mod_man @kerem for realigning my thought process. I started looking out for GS-F but was turning out to be expensive and I turned towards Chevy SS which came in low miles for that price , but was not convinced to pay that much for it. Thanks for the assurance on that. Also from test driving Chevy SS my take below.

1. Bland
2. My link infotainment too slow for this price.
3. It has vibrations in idling typical for muscle cars.
4. There is a substantial lag in power delivery to rear wheels for auto trans.
5. My conscience does not let me spend that price .
6. But some where I feel that gap for good affordable V8.

Thanks again for a quick response. Cheers.

You're very welcome. Cheers.

No problem, glad it helped.

It’s overpriced and not worth what they are asking.  But I have seen them (asking price anyways) being offered at low to mid $40,xxx-ish even in 2019 all day long.  Realize from 2013-2018 they only sold less than 13,000 of them here in the US - a sales failure but also a niche car sought after by some enthusiasts (especially with the manual).  I once considered getting one for a daily driver because the powertrain (6.2L de-tuned LS3 engine - one of my favorite engines of all time mated to a Tremec 6-speed manual) but went against it due to long term reliability (from build quality and electronics acting up in the long run), it’s dismal fuel economy (low to mid teens), and looks like a rental car (I could not get over that).

Way overpriced and not worth it . It is not a collectable.

Even GS-F is over priced for that matter , that’s the one if one wants to keep long term. I went to the dealership for picking up Chevy SS , for LS3, however my first test drive and was like 50 grands for this and the doubt creeped in my mind. Lol, I needed some experienced takes and Scotty came to my mind. Probably GS F is cashing in on just the reliability aspect almost 20 grands more than similar Chevy SS configuration.
