Hi Scotty, I get an oil smell from my air conditioning only on starting it in my 2009 Mercedes E350. It lasts for about 30 seconds then goes away. The cabin air filter under the hood has been changed. But it still happens.

It's probably a leaking valve cover gasket and the smell is being pulled into the cab by the air intake vents. Check your engine for leaks.
I don't see any oil leaking from the valve covers. Also why does it just smell when starting the AC, which of course also corresponds with starting the car.

I am so sorry I though the up and down arrows were for getting to the next comment.
Does it happen when you start the vehicle with the AC turned off?
Have you already checked for exhaust leaks?
No if the AC is off there is no smell
Are you sure it’s an oil smell? It’s best if you had it looked at by a professional mechanic ASAP, since it’s dangerous to inhale chemical fumes.
