Scotty Kilmer
Hi Scotty, I was wonderin what would u do in my situation. I recently acquired a 2014 2.5 4 cylinder Nissan Frontier from a close friend of mine & I noticed the transmission somewhat slipping in low gear not too bad just at harder RPMs when you try to take off from a complete stop mostly. I checked the ATF dipstick & its dry and had a darker smokey look from whatever was left on the tip. So would you just top off by adding some or flush whatever is left and top off?
I would change the fluid and the filter and put OEM fluid inside.
@scottykilmer Thank You Scotty!
@scottykilmer I did forget to mention it currently has 195K miles does that affect the situation at all?

Scotty does not usually return to topics he has already answered. Please see our FAQ which covers in detail the issues with changing transmission fluid. A quick answer would be if the trans has not been serviced in 195K miles it is probably on its way out and changing fluid may hasten its demise.
Also, in the future when posting a topic please put your question in the body of your post rather than title which is meant for a short description. Thank you. (Title edited.)
